The MS in Business for Social Impact & Sustainability welcomes a new cohort of students in style at IENYC Orientation Week 2025.
IE New York College is celebrating a significant milestone after welcoming a new cohort of master’s students with a special Orientation Week. The arrival of the 2025 intake of the MS in Business for Social Impact & Sustainability represents the beginning of a unique academic journey in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
During IENYC Orientation Week, incoming students took part in activities designed to connect them with the IENYC community, help them reflect on their personal goals and experience New York City itself. From hands-on learning to exciting tours of iconic landmarks, the week ensured this first cohort kicked off their IENYC experience in the best way possible.
Unlocking sustainable futures
The novel MS in Business for Social Impact & Sustainability is a full-time, in-person program that brings ambitious students to New York’s historic SoHo district. The program leverages a mix of theory and practice to empower students with sustainable practices, innovative business strategies and the leadership skills to align profits with environmental and social concerns.
Our 2025 cohort of students is on track to enter a thriving field. From the latest numbers:
- 76% of modern consumers say they wouldn’t buy from a company with a poor sustainability track record.
- 89% of investors factor in environmental and social concerns when making investment decisions.
- 90% of S&P 500 companies now release annual ESG reports.
As the business landscape continues to shift, this program will ensure our students gain the insights to stay ahead of the curve.
A week of reflection, connection and setting goals
IENYC Orientation Week was the perfect debut for this unique program. It included numerous activities that introduced students to IENYC while simultaneously fostering personal growth. One standout activity was the opportunity to write letters to their future selves, which were then collected and sealed by the IENYC team. These letters will be returned upon graduation, offering students a chance for future reflection on the progress they will have made, both individually and collectively.
Students also wrote statements about the sustainability goals they hope to achieve professionally. This task encouraged them to think critically, act with empathy and set intentional targets, forming the foundation for future careers where social impact and sustainability can become practical and actionable outcomes.
Finally, the students created time capsules filled with small objects symbolizing their passions and aspirations. As time passes, these tokens will serve as reminders of the personal development they experienced at IENYC.
Exploring New York: learning through city life
No trip to IENYC would be complete without exploring New York’s unique cultural fabric. The new cohort visited famous monuments such as the Rockefeller Center and the Top of the Rock Observation Deck. These outings didn’t just offer breathtaking, panoramic views of the entire city, but also provided opportunities to connect and network with peers in a relaxed environment.
Before the week was over, they toured the Banksy Museum, an exhibition of compelling pieces based on the works of the pop culture icon, Banksy. Students reflected on the intersection of art, activism and the power of social messaging in the context of sustainability and the fight for a better, collective future.
Shaping social impact and sustainability at IENYC
As IENYC Orientation Week welcomes this new group of students in the MS in Business for Social Impact & Sustainability program, we’re excited to see just how they will shape the future of this increasingly interconnected landscape.
With New York City as their classroom, these learners will be exposed to a highly immersive, practical environment where engaging with real-world challenges is just part of the curriculum. They will also gain access to movers and shakers in various fields, including sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship and global finance. With this program, the possibilities are truly endless, and we can’t wait to see where our students’ journeys take them.
